TISA Special Needs Care Group

Care Group — part of TISA Care

Individualized Support for Neurodiverse Children (Ages 4–7)

About the Care Group

TISA's Special Needs Care Group is a dedicated standalone programme for neurodiverse children aged 4–7, combining one-on-one care with small group learning in a warm, multilingual environment. It's part of TISA Care, the school's broader commitment to supporting every child.

Our specialists work closely with families to create personalized care plans that help children build confidence and thrive. The programme runs every weekday from 8:30 to 13:00 at our Leiden campus.

Dedicated Specialists

The Care Group is staffed by two dedicated special-needs teachers who are also trained school psychologists. They lead every child's care plan, run individual and group sessions, and stay closely connected with families throughout the programme.

Special-Needs Teacher & School Psychologist

Combines classroom teaching with psychological assessment and support, so each child's learning and emotional needs are met by the same trusted adult.

Growing at Their Own Pace

A core focus of the programme is self-regulation — helping each child build the tools to understand and manage their emotions, attention, and behaviour. Growth in self-regulation is tracked and celebrated as a real achievement, just like any other milestone.

Every child also has their own personal "This Is Me" profile — a living picture of their strengths, needs, and preferences — and their own program-year journey, shaped around who they are.

Programme Activities

Each child's sessions are drawn from eight core activity types, combined into a personalized daily plan.

Speech & Language Therapy

Individual and group sessions targeting articulation, vocabulary, and expressive communication.

Communication Therapy

Building functional communication skills, including AAC where appropriate, for daily interaction.

Math & Numeracy Activities

Hands-on numeracy play and structured activities adapted to each child's developmental level.

Fine & Gross Motor Skills Therapy

Targeted exercises to develop coordination, handwriting readiness, and physical confidence.

Occupational Therapy

Supporting sensory processing, self-care routines, and daily-living independence.

Music Therapy

Using rhythm, song, and instruments to build emotional regulation, attention, and social connection.

Art Therapy

Creative expression through drawing, painting, and sculpture to support self-regulation and communication.

Group Sessions with General Classroom

Shared activities with TISA's main classrooms — morning circles, meals, and play — to build peer bonds.

Inclusion & Socialization

Children in the Special Needs Care Group participate in shared activities with the general classroom, including morning circles, meals, and playtime.

This bridge between the Care Group and TISA's main programme means children build genuine peer relationships and gradually develop the confidence and skills to take part in wider school life — at their own pace, with full support.
